Rare
The concept for this project was to physically build a word using a material that related to the word in some way. I chose the word "Rare" and used sticks and natural elements to build my letters. I chose Helvetica as the typeface. The idea was to then take pictures in areas that related with the word.
I chose to use "Rare" as my word for this project because so many places in and around Denver have an exceptionally unique quality to them. This word personally ties into my life because my family owns property that was once a working silver mine in the 1870s. During my time growing up I spent a good amount of time at this property which is seemingly in the middle of nowhere and helped to shape my love for the rare outdoor experience of Colorado.

Wild Prairie
Wild Prairie is a contemporary smokehouse that uses old west techniques to provide the freshest meat available to their customers. Using meat from local farmers in northeast Colorado, they specialize in exotic meats.
The meats are first smoked in a 100 year old smoker. Then vacuum sealed and frozen for freshness. The final step is to be placed in either a cardboard package or brown sack to protect them from any damage in transit.
Gene Patents
It is possible for the creators of cures of diseases to patent their ideas. These diseases don't belong specifically to them, or anybody for that matter. Some people just happen to contract them. Continued research on patented cures is not allowed, unless the researcher pays the patent owner for access to all the previous research and development of the vaccine or process.
Each of these vials has a patent number for a real US patent. I then placed them in an acrylic box with a lock, signifying that only people with the correct authorization or "key" can access the cures for these diseases.
■●▲
Square circle triangle (■●▲) are the three basic shapes that compose the world around us in 2 dimensions. This video explores classic artworks by breaking them apart into these 3 shapes.
The full theatrical version of this film would involve attacks on major cities by basic shapes and they would eventually take over the world
Chaos
An exploration in a compressed narrative format. The concept was to create something less than a minute with very short cuts. I went for a super clean feeling room that was broken into by grungy textures and wiry objects to create a feeling of chaos.

The Swan Brothers
This book is based on facts taken from files of two patient's (Arthur and Gilbert Swan) of the JCRS in the 1920's. The Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design campus was home to thousands of tuberculosis patients during it's time as the Jewish Consumptives Relief Society (JCRS.) Research was completed at the JCRS archives at the Penrose Library on the Denver Univerity campus.
Jury Duty Experience
This study explored the whole experience of being called for jury duty. As a team, we worked to develop a more human centered approach to being summoned all the way up to the time the jurors enter the courtroom. Part of our system included the creation of an automated check-in station for the 2 person team that checks in nearly 300 people every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
I also developed a supplemental wayfinding system that fits with the style already in place at the courthouse.
Personalized Navigation
In my interaction design class, we were given the task to fix a poorly designed or entirely un-designed experience that users interact with. Then we broke into teams. My team decided to work on the issue of city navigation.
We researched many different navigation systems and found that they all lacked one major component, the ability to fit different learning styles. Some go by cardinal directions, some go by distance and other are just relative directions (left and right.) We decided to incorporate all these styles into one device that can learn what is best for each individual user.
